Who was the World's Tallest, Heaviest Horse?

Born in 1846 in Toddington Mills, Bedfordshire, England was a horse named Samson. Samson was a Shire gelding, and held the record for the tallest and heaviest horse in the world! At four years of age, Samson was measured and stood at 21.25 hands tall, (2.19 meters) then he was re-named Mammoth. He weighed 3,360 pounds! Samson (or Mammoth) was owned by a man named Thomas Clever.

Unfortunately, not a lot of information was documented on this horse, so no one really knows his history or what he was used for. But supposedly he was used for pulling ploughs and heavy loads, since he was a heavy draft breed and was extremely powerful because of his huge size.

If your horse is suspected with a health issue, consult your vet straight away.
